I’m a huge fan of good movies, and I’ve always loved great dialogues. So, I thought I’d compile some of my favorite movie lines into one post and share them here. I know that to truly grasp the full emotion behind these dialogues, you need to experience the movies themselves, but I still feel the need to write them down.
Some of these lines have brought me peace, some have enlightened me, some made me brave, and others have inspired me. I want to revisit them during dark times, as a source of comfort and strength.
It’s not who I am underneath, but what I do, that defines me.
― Batman BeginsWhy do we fall? So that we can learn to pick ourselves up.
― Batman BeginsBecause he’s the hero Gotham deserves, but not the one it needs right now. So we’ll hunt him. Because he can take it. Because he’s not our hero. He’s a silent guardian, a watchful protector. A dark knight.
― The Dark KnightI must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.
― DuneEdmond Dantès: Life is a storm, my young friend. You will bask in the sunlight one moment, be shattered on the rocks the next. What makes you a man is what you do when that storm comes. You must look into that storm and shout as you did in Rome. Do your worst, for I will do mine! Then the fates will know you as we know you: as Albert Mondego, the man!
― The Count of Monte CristoSirius Black: The ones that love us never really leave us. And you can always find them in here."
(points to Harry’s heart)
― Harry Potter and the Prisoner of AzkabanDumbledore: After all this time?
Snape: Always.
― Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2Thor: I’m still worthy.
― Avengers: EndgameTony: I love you 3000.
― Avengers: EndgameThis is your life, and it’s ending one minute at a time.
― Fight ClubJaanu: “Neenga romba dhooram poiteenga, Ram?”
(Have you gone far, Ram?)
Ram: “Illai, naan innum neenga vittutu pona idathula thaan irukken.”
(No, I’m still at the place where you left me.)
― 96Jaya: Don’t apologize for having a dream.
― Laapataa Ladies
