History

I keep changing how this website looks. This page is a record of it, with screenshots I saved along the way. The smaller changes are in the changelog.

May 2021: Wizbi Tales

My Malayalam blog for stories, poems and musings. Every piece was a card with a cover image, three across.

June 2021: Codbix

My digital garden for notes, projects and code. It ran on Hugo with Lightbi, the theme I made, and had only three links in the menu: Home, Projects and About.

October 2022: Notes and a dark mode

Notes joined the menu, and a button for the dark mode appeared beside it.

December 2022: a home page of my own

The home page stopped being a list of posts. It opened with my name and photo, then the recently published posts and the recent notes. The cover images were gone from the cards.

March 2023: the garden

“Hello, my name is Bino. I build things for the web.” The blog was called The Garden, and Collections and Tags joined the menu.

May 2023: Codbix becomes Bino

The name on the site changed from Codbix to Bino. The home page had three parts, Blog, Collections and From the Desk, and the Malayalam writing got a place in the menu.

July 2026: rooms

Three years later: a longer bio with a new photo, serif headings and red links. Under the bio came the Featured Posts, The Room and The Workbench.

v3: the home page with cards

From 28 July 2026 to 12 September 2026.

A new home page: the bio, then the featured posts as cards with their cover images, and then the latest essays.

v4: only a bio

From 13 September 2026.

I redesigned the home page to simplify everything. All the cards were removed, and it became just a bio with links. The colours settled on a cooler white and gray with a single accent colour.

v5: Veedu

From October 2026.

A new theme called Veedu (വീട്), which is Malayalam for “home”. It has a stone and ink look and uses no Bootstrap: the layout is plain CSS.

• The home page shows a count for each kind of writing, and then the latest pieces from the Workbench and the Desk.
• One font, Geist, for the text and the headings, and Geist Mono for dates and labels.
• Each kind of writing has its own colour on the edge of its cards.
• The Malayalam writing moved to its own site, ml.binovarghese.com.
